He was predeceased by: his parents, John McCarthy and Regina McCarthy (Clay); and his siblings, John McCarthy, Patricia Austeri and Sally Plotitza.

He is survived by: his sons, Jarrad McCarthy and Eric McCarthy (Erica); his stepgrandchildren, Alexa and Meadow Calderone; and his brother Francis McCarthy.
