He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary E. Van Gieson; his daughter Kathleen V. Smith (Katie); his parents, Eleanor Smith (Harris) and Jean Martin Smith; his brother-in-law James P. Van Gieson (Kathy) of Foster, RI; his nephew Ben Van Gieson (Lindsey); his daughters, Hadley and Talia of Sterling, MA; his nephew Mike Van Gieson of Dexter, OR; and his cousin George Van Gieson.
