He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward W. Riter Jr. and Helen M. Oravetz; his sisters, Sally A. Riter and Marie H. Millick (Barbara G. Clark); his son David R. Riter; his stepson Arthur G. Riter; and his brother-in-law Jack B. Clark.
He is survived by: his daughters, Karen of Florida and Melanie of Oregon; his nephew Dan of New York; his brother-in-law Kenneth of Ohio; his daughters-in-law, Anita of Arizona and Marybeth of Pennsylvania; his stepdaughter Gloria of Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Zack (David), Ben (Melanie), Joshua (Melanie), Rebecca (Arthur) and Keith (Arthur). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
During his 38 year membership with the Springfield Lions Club, from 1986-2024, he served as a Treasurer or Secretary for over 15 years, and as Treasurer of the Lions Upper Bucks Kidney Foundation for 5 years.
