He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ruth A. Purdy Gilroy and Joseph A. Gilroy; his wife Barbara L. Gilroy; his sons, Justin Gilroy (Nikki) and Brendan Gilroy (Danielle); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madison, Emily, Jack, Luke and Brady Gilroy; and his siblings, Joseph Gilroy, Ruth Sheehan (Tom), Patti Gilroy and Michelle Costa (Frank).
