He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Slagle and Louise Slagle (Cook); and his sister Leona Slagle Stahl. He is survived by: his wife Audrey (Peck); his children, Susan Caffo (David), Geoffrey (Lorena), John P. Slagle (Kim) and Mary Finkernagel (Stephen); his grandsons, Andrew (Casey), Christopher (Kelly) and James; his daughter Julie Haertter Custer (William); his granddaughter Erica Haertter Coin (Matthew); his great grandchildren, James and Quinn; his granddaughters, Katie and Madeleine; his son James Slagle (Lorena); his granddaughter Mary Catherine; his son Paul Slagle (Patricia); and his grandchildren, Samantha and Paul Joseph, Jr. (PJ). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Rose of Lima Parish or St. Labre Indian Catholic High School in Ashland, Montana.
