He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Margaret Barrett and James Barrett; his wife Diane Barrett; his children, Michael Barrett (Laurie), Michele Showalter (David) and Melissa Verlinghieri (Robert); and his siblings, Richard, Douglas (Nancy), Robert Barrett and Margaret Barrett. He was also cherished by nieces and a nephew.
