He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Sonnen and Minnie Sonnen (Sweigart); his wife Elizabeth "Betty" (Netzley); and his siblings, John Steffy, Elwood Sonnen, Edward Sonnen, Jean Sonnen, Kenneth Sonnen, Shirley Shelly, Betty Weidler, Mary Jane Fry, Leroy Sonnen, June Achey, Patricia Thompson, Vivian Mountz and Gladys Fry.
He is survived by: his children, Brian (Donna) and Thomas Pettineo; his grandchildren, Thomas and Alexander Pettineo; and his siblings, Elaine Rutter, Fay Harnish, Evelyn Schoenbuchner and Russell Sonnen.
