He was predeceased by: his parents, Steve Katancik and Anna Katancik (Lesko); his wife Alice Katancik; his son George Katancik (Patricia); and his siblings, Stephen Katancik and Ann Kriss.
He is survived by: his children, Nancy Dessy and Jim Katancik (Cynthia); and his siblings, Joseph Katancik, Mary Roles and Virginia Sedilko. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
