She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Misurda and Elizabeth Misurda (Volchko); her husband Stanford W. Gates; her son Clifford D. Gates; her grandson Thomas Gates Jr.; and her siblings, Mary Hicks, John, Paul, George and Alex Misurda.
She is survived by: her son Thomas Gates Sr.; and her sister Dorothy Laichak of Johnstown. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She enjoyed baking for family and friends, and she had many requests for her baked goods for donations, weddings and events.
