He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth D. Colyar (Metzger); his son Thomas R. Colyar; his grandson Christopher A. Colyar; his parents, Henry Colyar and Catherine Colyar (O'Connor); and his siblings, Harry Colyar, Raymond Colyar, John Colyar, Catherine Rodgers, Dolores Charpentier and Rose Zomer.
He is survived by: his sons, Joseph F. Colyar Jr., James J. Colyar (Nancy), John T. Colyar (Lynda), Kevin R. Colyar (Alice) and Mark S. Colyar (Leslie); and his daughter-in-law Diane Colyar. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
