He was predeceased by: his parents, James Curtis Sr. and June Nora Thompson (Stabley). He is survived by: his wife Suzanne M. Thompson (Furst); his children, James C. Thompson, III (Jen), David A. Thompson, Daniel J. Thompson (Nicole), Katie M. Churchfield (Seth) and Sarah K. Coombs (Garret); and his brother Phillip E. Thompson (Eileen). He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Jim's memory be offered to Hospice and Community Care, 235 St. Charles Way, Suite 250, York, PA 17402.
