He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Cooley (Watson). He is survived by: his parent Willie Cooley; his children, Lawrence, Johnnie, Glen, Scott, Nathan III, Randi, Bobby, Lena, Gloria, Connie, Brenda, April and Noriana; his stepchildren, Gerald, Edward, Enoc, Angel and Melinda; his nieces and nephews, Shirley and Fonz; his daughter-in-law Leslie; his caregiver Tonya Rice; his siblings, John, James, Sam, Lenard, Willie, Woodrow Cooley, Gracie Cooley-Jenkins, Anna Cooley-Jackson, Mary Cooley-Spotwood and Adelle Cooley-Hightower; his son Frederick "Freddy" Isaac; his great grandchild Zo Charlie Lee; and his close friend Lessie Kearse.
He later opened April's III in the early 1990s, managing it until 2021, when it closed due to the economic impact of the pandemic.
