He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Swanson and Lillian B. Swanson (Dickinson); and his son John M. Swanson. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy G. "Ginger" Swanson (Beck); his son Gene A. (Kristin B. Swanson) of Bern Township; his grandsons, Thomas J. Swanson (Kimberly R.), Adam J. Swanson (Alyssa M.) and Benjamin J. Swanson (Katelynn M.); his great grandchildren, Jackson Cole, Georgina Grace and Hazel Noelle; and his sister-in-law Carol Ann Gibson of Columbia, SC..
