He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce B. Bumbaugh and Elva Mae Bumbaugh (Whitmore); his wife Leona Mae Bumbaugh (Cline); his former wife Maxine E. Bumbaugh (Heishman); and his siblings, Verva High, Miriam Fitz Shenk, Doris Cline, Aldus Bumbaugh, Elwood Bumbaugh and S. S. Franklin.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Cooley (Bryan) of Stephens City, VA and Jonathan Bumbaugh of Gettysburg, PA; his grandson Daniel Cooley (Heather) of Pittsburgh, PA; his great grandchild Noah Cooley of Pittsburgh; and his brother Robert Bumbaugh of Waynesboro. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
