She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Coates; her parents, Harold R. Swarr and Gertrude Dykeman Swarr; and her brother Harold D. Swarr. She is survived by: her children, Pamela (Robert Girvin) of Paradise and Michael (Roberta Nikodemski) of Denton, MD; and her brother Herbert R. Swarr. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
