He was predeceased by: his wife Florence Y. Abbot (Young); his parents, Edwin W., Sr. and Chella M. Abbot (Underwood); his son Douglas Abbot; and his siblings, Edwin, Jr., Nathaniel Abbot, Chella Lewis and Jessie Abbot.
He is survived by: his children, Peggy Gygi (Michael), James Lloyd Abbot (Donna), Patricia Mitchiner (Robert), David Abbot (Sherry), Donna Peterson (Kim), Nancy Seegmiller (Paul) and Jennifer Schwab (Leon). He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
