He was predeceased by: his wife Sylvia K. Lapp Esh; his parents, John M. Esh and Barbara King Esh; and his siblings, Fannie (late Amos Beiler), Elizabeth (late Jake King), Jacob (late Rebecca Esh), Sarah (late Sam Kauffman), Jonas (late Naomi Esh), John (late Lizzie Esh) of Quarryville, Katie (late John Stoltzfus), Abner (late Annie Esh) and Mary Esh of Quarryville.
He is survived by: his children, Sarah L. (John M. Esh) of Strasburg, John Z. (Katie Fisher Esh) of Strasburg, Leah L. (Isaac L. King) of Strasburg, David L. (Mary Fisher Esh) of Quarryville, Jacob L. (Barbara Stoltzfus Esh) of Quarryville, Aaron L. (Annie Stoltzfus Esh) of Quarryville, Christian L. (Anna Stoltzfoos Esh) of Quarryville, Leroy L. (Linda Stoltzfus Esh) of Quarryville, Barbara L. (Sol K. Beiler) of Peach Bottom, Mary L. (Daniel B. Stoltzfus) of Peach Bottom, Naomi L. (Emanuel L. Petersheim) of Christiana, Sylvia L. (Gideon S. Swarey) of Ronks, Samuel L. (Ada Stoltzfus Esh) of Narvon and Malinda L. (John Z. King) of Oxford; and his sisters, Barbara (late Benjamin Kauffman) of Oxford and Malinda (late Sam Stoltzfus). He is also survived by 119 grandchildren, 273 great-grandchildren.
