He was predeceased by: his parents, John Higgins and Mary Higgins (Wilson); and his daughter Jacqueline Higgins. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Higgins (Cullian); his children, John Higgins (Lisa), Rose Marie Higgins (Alan) and Paul Higgins; and his grandchildren, Ivy, Crystal, Heidi, Victoria, Brittany, Ali and Dylan.
