He was predeceased by: his parents, Alma M. Shaffer (Allenbaugh) and Clinton H. Shaffer; his wife Anna Marie Shaffer (Kaza); and his daughter Sue Ann Shaffer. He is survived by: his sons, Randy Shaffer (Lynn) of Punxsutawney and Doug Shaffer (Dana) of Erie; his grandchildren, Jessica, Renea Shaffer, Kyle Shaffer (Mallory) and Kelsey Grode (Ryan); and his great grandchild Nora Shaffer.
