She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil William Burkholder and Margaret Delilah Burkholder (Bucy); her son-in-law Joseph Michael Neal; and her brothers, Larry, Jack and Tim Burkholder.

She is survived by: her husband Darrell James Smith; her children, Lisa Neal of Grafton and Dr. Chad Smith (Barbie); her grandchildren, Jetts Allen (Matt) of Walpole, Joseph Neal (Lindsay) of Grafton, Dr. Hunter Allen (Ian) of Sarasota and Cody Smith (Emery) of St. Louis, Missouri; her great grandchildren, Emmie, Fiona, Case Allen, Joey, Eden Neal and Desiree Smith; and her sisters, Sharon Haggard of Mt. Airy and Cheryl Davis (Hugh) of Columbus, Ohio..

Visitation was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM and from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. (115 E Union St, Punxsutawney, PA 15767). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Chestnut Grove Independent Church (342 Lipp Rd, Punxsutawney, PA 15767).

Memorial donations may be made in Jan's memory to Chestnut Grove Independent Church.
