It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James R. Overly Sr. of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Loretta (Schneider) and James Luther Overly; his grandson Cory George; and his brother John "Jack" Overly. He is survived by: his spouse Erda "Carol" Overly (Simons); his children, Mary Beth Bosak (Rick) of Punxsutawney, J. R. Overly (Ellen) of Punxsutawney, Debbie George (Mark) of DuBois, Bill Overly (Jen) of Punxsutawney, Don Overly (Louis Mitchell) of Ringwood, NJ and Patti Dinsmore (Robert) of Punxsutawney; his grandchildren, Erin, Chelsea, James, Jeff, Geoff, Amber, Becky, Carol, Jackson and Andrew "A. J."; his great grandchildren, Mason, Colton, Harper, Sydney, Deegan, Ivy and Fiona; his sister Patricia Massi (Bill) of New Kensington; and his sister-in-law Suzann Simons of New Kensington. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
