He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Chester Johnston and Marjorie Elizabeth Johnston (Clark); his wife Martha Bell Smith; his daughter Linda Johnston; and his siblings, George Johnston, Earl Johnston, Ralph Johnston, James Johnston, Seth Johnston, Harry Johnston and Jane Dequinze.
He is survived by: his great grandchild Abby; his children, William Johnston (Connie) of Troutville, Brenda Cyphert of Punxsutawney and Raymond A. Johnston (Janet) of Pittsburgh; and his grandchildren, Mitchell Johnston (Jen), Jessica Cochran (Caleb), Tiffany Cyphert, Ryan and Sheena Patricelli.
