He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen John Harkins and Hilda Clare Harkins (Rummell); and his siblings, William, Hobert, Edward, Richard, Rodgers Harkins, Martha Morey and Agnes Lydic.

He is survived by: his wife Michelle Fernandez; his children, Janine Closius (Rick) of Miami and Derek Harkins (Kathryn) of Annapolis, Maryland; and his grandchildren, Kathryn, Samantha Closius, Kelsey and Brandon Harkins.
