He was predeceased by: his father Donald Bates. He is survived by: his mother Edna Bates (Comino); his daughter Ann Marie Bates of Honesdale; his brother Leonard Bates (Patricia) of Honesdale; and his nephews, Jay and Brian Bates. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
