He is survived by: his close friend Karen Hoy; his children, Shaun Hoy (Tanya), Kimberly Cook (Shawn Hautz) and Russel T. Cook, Jr. (Dana Aliberto); and his great grandchildren, Liam Smith, Elizabeth Hoy and Brynlee Smith.
