He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Phillips and Rose Mary O'Brian Phillips; his grandmother Mary Stump; and his aunt Helen Derfler. He is survived by: his wife Grace Lord Samay; his sons, Matthew Samay (Amy) and Kevin Samay; and his grandchildren, Emersyn, Tyler and Riley Samay. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family would like to prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of John be made to St. Judes Hosptial, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
