He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo L. Scheuren and Mildred Scheuren (Russen); his wife Marylou Scheuren (Elliott); and his brother Frank Leo Scheuren. He is survived by: his children, Jane E. Scheuren of Minersville and James L. Scheuren, Jr.; his close friends, Merideth Hannan of Pottsville and Jeffrey L. Scheuren (Barbara); his sister Janet Kurtz of Savannah, GA; and his grandchildren, James J. and Casey E. Scheuren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
