He was predeceased by: his parents, John McLaughlin and Anne McLaughlin; and his brothers, James (late Nancy) and Joseph. He is survived by: his wife Regina McLaughlin; his children, Regina Williams (Peter), Maureen McLaughlin, Patricia Barkasi (Paul), Michael Patrick McLaughlin and Sean Craig McLaughlin; his grandchildren, Sean Kenneth Haas, Paul Nicholas Barkasi, Brett Michael Barkasi and Brenna Nichole Barkasi; and his brother John. He is also survived by 48 loving nieces and nephews.
