He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Strimpel and Ruth Strimpel (Zimmerman); and his wife Libby Strimpel. He is survived by: his daughters, Silver Tally, Nicole Andrews and Draycin Strimpel; his stepchildren, Joel Powers, James Wood, Jr. and Angie Powers; and his grandchildren, Sincere Strimpel, Samiah Brown and Nolan Powers. He is also survived by eight sisters and three brothers.
