She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Bachtell and Esther Bachtell (Ritchey); her former husband John S. Powers; her husband Major Joseph F. Hornyak; her sister Aletta Gibson (Bachtell); her aunt Ida C. Ritchey; and her friend Margaret R. Vrobel.
She is survived by: her children, Carol G. (Thomas), Joy D. Powers of Summerhill, PA and James C. Powers of Portage, PA; her stepson David L. Hornyak of Mims, FL.; and her sisters-in-law, Marianne Hornyak of Burnham, PA and Melvina Hornyak (Marge) of Johnstown, PA.
