He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Kirkland and Mary Abigail Russell; his parents-in-law, Edward Magroski and Naomi Magroski; and his brother-in-law David Magroski.

He is survived by: his close friend John (Coors Light); his wife Laura Anne Russell (Magroski); his children, Jessica Marie Dorsey (Todd), Erika Grace Lippert (David), Riley, Winter, Wyatt and Levi; his sister-in-law Michelle Onder (Jack); his nephew Noah Onder (Sarah Kish); his pets, Buzz and Milo; and also, John and Sheree Kapusta.

““Cowboy Joe” his nickname from his friends in High School. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Married Florene Ann Perini they had 4 children together. Michael (Angela) Russell. The late Joesph D. Russell Jr., Jamie C. Russell and Dawn M. Russell. Grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of 12. We were told Joe passed away in Jan. 2021. His first children were never notified of his true passing. You will be forever in our hearts Uncle Joe.. You’re free now. Back with your loved ones in heaven.”
