He is survived by: his wife Patricia Sivak (Marcinko); his children, Janice Howells (Rodney) of Frederick, MD and Michael Sivak (Paul Mages) of Brooklyn, NY; and his grandchildren, Olivia Howells of Baltimore, MD and Joshua Howells of Frederick, MD.
James worked later as a security guard for the Richard Mellon Scaife Foundation in Pittsburgh.
