He is survived by: his sons, Gerald Lopata (Julie) and Gregg Lopata; his grandchildren, Jenna, Jacob and Ryan Lopata; his brothers, James (Kathy), Albert (Deborah) and Joseph Lopata (Debra); and his close friends, Jason Platz and Michael Skruch.

The family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 in Gerald's honor.
