He was predeceased by: his parents, Merl "Newt" Hoffman and Ruth Van Dyke Hoffman; his siblings, Harold Hoffman and Verda "Sue" Grossman; his nephew Austin Randall Hoffman; and his niece Caressa Anne Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Toy; his children, Amy Jo Ford (Andy) of Harrisville, Ed "Spike" Hoffman Jr. (Barb) of Emlenton, Julie Eddy (Tom) of Harrisville and Aaron Hoffman of Polk; his former wife Sandy Hoffman of Harrisville; his siblings, David K. Hoffman of Slippery Rock, Z. Merlene Martin of Grove City, Betty Lang (Tom) of Polk, Helen Rodriguez (Ramiro) of Polk, Ruth Finch of Meadville and Robert Hoffman (Diane) of Harrisville; his sister-in-law Diana Hoffman; and his pet Toby. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
