He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Thomas "Tom" and Helen D. Baughman; and his brother Timothy A. Baughman. He is survived by: his children, Tracey (Doug Moninger), James E. Baughman Jr. of Mt. Pleasant and Billie Jo (Bill David); his grandchildren, Mariah Baughman, Jacob Daugherty, Emily Baughman, Liam David, Claire David and Julia David; and his siblings, Cindy (B. B. Kemp), Clarence Baughman Jr. (Tom), Carole of Pleasant Unity and Dr. Jesus Cenizal (Chito) of Greensburg. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
