He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruno Tavella and Rose Tavella (Capria); his siblings, Maria Balsavage, Antonetta "Joan" Shanahan and Fred Tavella; and his nephew Jason Tavella.

He is survived by: his brother Tony Tavella; his nephew Jeffrey Tavella; and his brother-in-law Thomas Shanahan.
