He is survived by: his wife Marion L. Butch; his son John B. Blazes (Amy); his granddaughters, Ava Grace, Isabella and Shavertown; and his brother William "Buddy" Blazes of Hagerstown, MD. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for John may be given to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas, 66676-8516.
