He was predeceased by: his parents, Burton Schell and Stella Schell (Holland); his son Sheldon Schell Jr.; and his siblings, Burton Jr., Terry Schell and Lydia Winter.

He is survived by: his close friend Beth Long; his daughter Kristen Croak; his grandson Alexander Schell; his brother Mark Schell; his daughter-in-law Nina Rumbaugh; his niece Michelle Faillace; and his nephews, Paul Schell and Kevin Rusinko.
