He was predeceased by: his parents, George "Henry" Nelson and Nellie Nelson (Holl); his granddaughter Abigayle Nelson; and his siblings, Bob, Sally, Mildred and Sandra.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Nelson (Clarke); his sons, David Nelson and Jonathan Nelson (Melissa); and his grandchildren, David Jr., Matthew, Patrick, Jacob, Anthony Nelson, Alyssa Nelson and Emily Nelson. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
