He was predeceased by: his parents, George Pfender and Clara Pfender. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Pfender (Annibale); his sons, Andrew Pfender (Beverly), Christopher Pfender (Tina) and Robert Pfender (Arden); and his siblings, George Pfender (Mary), Charles Pfender (Diane), Bernadette Warner, Marge Ratay (Ed) and Joseph Pfender (Renee). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 1501 Reedsdale St., #3003, Pgh., PA 15233.
