He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward and Frances; and his brother Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Paul Jr. (Melanie), Christine, Michelle Berret (Joe), Colleen and Marcie; and his grandchildren, Charlotte, Claire, Nico, Corinne and Kylie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
