He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark F. Kirby Sr. and Ruth F. Lancaster; and his siblings, William "Billy" Kirby, Lucy Kirby, Nora Hilderbrand (Ken) and Ralph Kirby (Cindy).

He is survived by: his siblings, Jean Kirby Cheek, Thomas Kirby (Brigette), Ruth Ann "Pete" Kirby, Larry Kirby Sr., Tommy Dale (Samantha) and Rebecca "Becky" Kirby (JP); and his children, Wendy Spafford (James), Mark Kirby III, Michael Kirby (Amanda) and Matthew Kirby. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
