He was predeceased by: his niece Jodi Ayne Safier. He is survived by: his wife Judith Barad Safier; his sons, Andrew Jacob Safier (Linda DeMercurio) and Dr. Robert Adam Safier; his brother Ronald Lee Safier (Doreen); his nieces, Susan Farber, Nancy Cohen and Shari Caspert; his nephew Jon Safier; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Rachel, Taylor Cohen, Jenna, Abby, Drew Safier, Jed, David, Jack Farber, Carson Cohen, Jason and Matthew Caspert.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Division of Child Neurology or Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Free Care Fund.
