He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Ruth Ann; his children, Carey Smith (Ed), David Bennett (Kasey), James Bennett and Jeremy Bennett (Kelly); his stepchildren, Annette, Jeanette and Leisa; his grandchildren, Morgan of Carson, CJ, Gannon, Lyla and Bane; his great grandchild Sutton; and his siblings, Sue Bugna (Bob), Allyson Rudolph (Larry) and Arlene. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
