He was predeceased by: his father Harold Kohr; and his brother Kenneth. He is survived by: his mother Suzanne Kohr (Hively); his siblings, Steven, Charles (Priscilla), Alan, Cindy and Linda; his significant other Rita McGee; and his children, Danielle Kohr, Chelsea Kohr, Kaitlyn Kohr and James McGee Jr.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made in his name.
