He was predeceased by: his wife Jeanne M. Moffatt (Donley); his parents, William Moffatt and Margaret Moffatt (Steinert); and his siblings, Bobby Moffatt (Janet) and Pat Waugh (late Bill).

He is survived by: his children, Patrick Moffatt (Sandra), Bridget Simunovic (Joe) and Maggie Dwyer (Rich); his grandchildren, Declan, Siobhan, Brigh, Max, Ella Simunovic, Casey Johnson (Mike), Chase, Rylee Dwyer and Rowan Johnson; and his godson Sean Foley (Chelsea). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers donation suggested to Leukemia Foundation, 333 E Carson St # 441E, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 and the UPMC Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh, 4401 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
