He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Scott Gilkes; and his parents, Arthur G. Gilkes and Ann F. Gilkes. He is survived by: his sons, Arthur S. Gilkes (Rebecca) and John G. Gilkes (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Oliver and Vivian Gilkes; and his siblings, Ceci Liu, Judy Benson and Jane Straussgutl. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
