He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip J. Schaeffer and Rhea C Trumbore Schaeffer; his wife Marian M. Zimmerman Schaeffer; his daughter Patricia Gilbert; his granddaughter Tracy Schaeffer; his siblings, Gloria Reinoehl, Betty Haldeman and Phillip Schaeffer; and his niece Carol Cooper.
He is survived by: his sons, Guy "Jack" Schaeffer, Jr. of Pine Grove and John (Terry Schaeffer) of Pine Grove; and his sisters, Shirley (Ray "Abie" Krammes) of Pine Grove and Gladys (Bobby Donofrio) of Pine Grove. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
