She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph B. Snyder and Hazel K. Snyder (King). She is survived by: her daughters, Tammy E. Fowler of Pittsburgh, Cindy L. Gearhart (Robert "Bubba) and Philipsburg; and her grandchildren, Kelly L. Gearhart (Andy Georgino), Robert T. "Bobby" Gearhart, Jr., Matti L. Musser (Brandon Yeager) and Morgan L. Musser (David Estright). She is also survived by five great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family.

She was awarded Leader of the Year for her dedication and contributions to the Girl Scouts.

“In loving memory of Joyce Fowler, I shared an assigned dining table on a Carnival Cruise Hawaii back in 2000, with Joyce and Lena. Joyce's wit and humor was always enjoyed. We were pen pals for a while, and then it stopped. I moved and found a letter that I thought I had mailed back in June 2000. I was going to write a new letter and mail it with the old letter. Did a search and found that she is resting in peace. Someone so special has not been forgotten.”
