He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cartwright and Sarah Cartwright (Johnson); his wife Madeline K. Smith; and his siblings, Margie Lucas, William, Thomas, Robert, Richard and Ronald Cartwright.
He is survived by: his close friend Sandy Pinto of Houtzdale, PA; his children, Tammy L Verbeck (Frank) of Brisbin, PA, Tracy L. Kepart (Tim "Harv") of Brisbin, PA and Donald G. Cartwright, Jr. of Houtzdale, PA; his sisters, Dorothy Fair of Monroeville, PA and Loretta Brinkman (Ron) of Murraysville, PA; and his grandchildren, Megan Verbeck, Kayla Neff, Nathan Kephart, Donald Cartwright III, Jon Cartwright and Tiara Shaw. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
